One-time GST/HST top-up
A one-time June 2026 boost to your GST/HST credit.
As Canada transitions to the new Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit (CGEB) in July 2026, the CRA is issuing a one-time top-up equal to 50% of your annual GST/HST credit for the July 2025 – June 2026 period.

What it is
A single, automatic payment paid starting June 5, 2026 to anyone entitled to the January 2026 GST/HST credit. It does not include any related provincial or territorial program amounts.
Typical amount: Up to $267 (single, no children), $349 (couple, no children), $441 with 1 child, $533 with 2, $625 with 3, and $717 with 4 children. Shared-custody parents each get half.
Who can claim it
- You filed your 2024 tax return (your spouse/partner too, if applicable)
- You were entitled to the GST/HST credit in January 2026
- You're a Canadian resident for tax purposes

Common questions
Do I need to apply for the top-up?
No. The CRA pays it automatically if you filed your 2024 tax return and were entitled to the January 2026 GST/HST credit.
When will I receive it?
Starting June 5, 2026 — by direct deposit if you're enrolled, otherwise a paper cheque by mail.
How much will I get?
Half of your total GST/HST credit for July 2025–June 2026. Maximums range from $267 (single, no children) to $717 (family with four children). Provincial/territorial credit amounts aren't included.
What about the Canada Carbon Rebate?
The CCR ended with the April 2025 payment when the federal fuel charge was removed. There will be no more quarterly CCR payments.
